We are proud to announce that our home design, Hasserton, was awarded silver for technological design in Electronic Lifestyle Magazine's Design Awards. 

The goal for this design was to maintain high-style in the media room, consistent with the contemporary home, and to integrate top of the line electronic systems from Bekins. Being the focal point of the room, the tiled medial wall presented a challenge of blending the speakers and having a low profile television that did not detract from the overall design of the home. 

Some of the major features of this room are in-wall and in-ceiling speakers along with an in-wall subwoofer. Interested? Read the article to see what else this media room has to offer?

Great Lake Story, Chapter 4: Stunning sunsets, the sound of waves and kids on the beach, the feel of wind on the shoreline walks -- its easy to see quality of the life on Lake Michigan.  But quality of craftsmanship, like these glacier-made waters, goes deep beyond the surface of what's seen.  Designed by Visbeen Architects and built by Mike Schaap Builders, the story of the Emmett continues.

Crafting Home (Cover Feature): Last fall along the fringes of northeast Kent County's crystalline Silver Lake, a modern-minded couple replaced an outdated tear-down with a new year-round home that blends practical ingenuity and unhindered views with a new take on contemporary style.  This beautiful home from our design portfolio was awarded the AIBD's Global Choice Award as part of the American Residential Design Awards last month.

Cosmopolitan Home Grand Rapids: Contemporary Home Tours

I know we have posted it here on our blog before, but did you know we design contemporary projects in addition to the traditional residences our firm is known for?  Yes, really...we do!  The Spring issue of Cosmopolitan Home Magazine - Grand Rapids is out and proves that two of such contemporary designs are worth taking a look at.

The first feature focuses on the Essex, a "Penthouse in the City." An über modern pad with all the energy of a booming metropolis as it's backdrop is nestled on an upper floor of River House Condominiums in downtown Grand Rapids.

The second article, featuring our design called the Kessler, has quite a contrasting venue. It offers a similar minimalist, modern design, but this time is settled in a country, wooded lot, proving that contemporary designs can fit with any landscape.

Kessler

The Kessler is a contemporary dream come true. This sprawling two-story home is distinctive in design and aesthetic. Utilizing simple shapes, clean lines, and unique materials, the exterior of the home makes a strong impression.

Large, single-paned windows light up the interior spaces. The main living area is an open space, including the foyer, sitting room, dining area and kitchen. Also on the main level are a screened porch, dual patios, exercise room, master bedroom and guest suite.

The lower level offers two additional guest suites, an entertainment center and game room, all with daylight windows.
