Laurel Houzz Tour

In case you missed it…Late last week, our home design, "Laurel" was featured on Houzz in the traditional architecture idea book. Becky Harris, a Houzz contributor had a chance to interview Wayne Visbeen of Visbeen Architects to get an insider look at how he prepared for designing the Laurel in the traditional community in Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton South Carolina.
The Laurel was designed to be a traditional Lowcountry home and to fit in with the surrounding homes in the community. To read more about this traditional southern home and the homework that went into designing it, read the Houzz Tour:  Lowcountry Style With an Eye on Entertaining

Spring Break: Palmetto Bluff

It is that time of year when everyone seems to be traveling to a warmer location. Where will you be traveling to?
Seeking a relaxing vacation away from the never ending winter in the midwest, Ted and Kathy Linn chose South Carolina as their spring break destination. Staying in the beautiful waterfront community in Palmetto Bluff South Carolina, they came across some of our projects in all of their southern charm and snapped a few photos.

The Laurel, winner of Best in the South Atlantic Region, is one many of you may be familiar with now if you have been following our blog.
Along with the familiar face of the Laurel, they found a couple other projects that have been in the works and are set to be ready for their glamour shots this summer to capture the beauty of Palmetto Bluff.

Some finishing electrical touches are going into our Williamsburg design.

A few finishing touches in the interior and our Georgetown design will be completed as well

Durring their stay they had lunch at a local favorite, Buffalo's. "If you ever travel to South Carolina eat at Buffalo's, the sweet potato fries are amazing"

Special Bonus Issue: Cottages

We proud to share that our firm was the featured residential architect in the most recent Michigan BLUE magazine. This is a special edition of the magazine which is dedicated to cottages features some of Michigan's best teams to work with when building or remodeling a new home.

The Laurel, located in South Carolina and a recent winner of the Best in the South Atlantic Region, was a home built to suit a variety of homebuyers. The vision for this home shows that good design is the best way to utilize all of the available space in a floor plan and to get "more bang for your buck".
We would like to congratulate Mary Burns, Owner of Gallery Interiors and Rockford Kitchen Design, and her team for being featured for their experience and excellence in interior design for retail and private homes. In addition, we would like to recognize the team at Mike Schaap Builders for their success in building custom homes. Both companies were featured in the new edition as well.

If you would like to see more photos of this charming South Carolina home and other homes designed by Visbeen Architects you can visit our website or find them on Houzz. You can read more about the vision of our firm in the article below.

Laurel

Perfectly at home along the shore in the Carolinas, the Laurel is built using native materials and designed to let the ocean breeze in.  Deep covered decks and a screened in porch allow for easy transitions between indoor and outdoor living.  The open main level floor plan centers on common living spaces, while still leaving room for a luxurious master bedroom.  The upstairs loft offers two individual bed and bath suites, making ample space for guests and visitors.
