Great New Plans for 2014

It’s all about versatility and surprising touches of luxury with these new plans. The layouts are designed to flex over time, which also means they will appeal to many different types of buyers now. Other up-to-date design features include outdoor living, lots of storage, and – of course – open kitchens.

Ideal for empty nesters who want to scale back, this 1,392-square-foot design has the soul (and amenities) of a much larger luxury home. Golf cart storage, an outdoor grill, and an open island kitchen add serious appeal. In the master suite, a large walk-in closet and access to the porch create a welcoming haven. Two more bedrooms make this design suitable for young families, too. See more images, information, and the floor plan.
Here's a unique, fun home with great indoor and outdoor spaces. The large family area opens via sliding glass doors onto a lanai with an outdoor fireplace. Conveniently located on the main level, the master suite opens to its own terrace and boasts a spacious bathroom and walk-in closet. A study doubles as a guest room and has access to a full bath with shower. Upstairs, two more bedrooms have use of the optional media room and huge bonus game room. See more images, information, and the floor plan.
Room to Expand Downstairs
Designed by Visbeen Architects, this home offers comfort, functionality, and beautiful spaces in which to gather. On the main level, the formal dining room flows into the living area and kitchen. The well-appointed master suite is also located on the main floor. Ascend the turreted stairs to find three more bedrooms, laundry facilities, and a bright home office. The optional lower level provides more space for guests, work, and play. See more images, information, and the floor plan.
The versatile layout inside this lovely home makes it a great choice for many different living situations; a couple, a young family, or empty nesters with frequent guests would be especially comfortable here. The open plan and first-floor master suite add convenience for the home owners. Upstairs, two bedrooms, a hall bath, and a massive bonus area that can be converted into a rec room are perfect for family or visiting friends. A study/fourth bedroom sits on the main level, along with a screened side porch just off the great room. See more images, information, and the floor plan.

Fall Parade of Homes

After two and a half weeks of our city being decorated with amazing sculptures, large installations and one-of-a-kind pieces of artwork, ArtPrize is coming to an end.  {{{ sigh }}}.  But it just happens to be a perfect time to explore another form of artistry - homebuilding!  Design and craftsmanship are at their finest as the best-of-the-best West Michigan architects, designers and builders team up to showcase our form of art in this year's Fall Parade of Homes.  We had the pleasure of partnering with two talented builders and interior designers on three amazing projects that will be open for touring during the Fall Parade...

Emmett  [ Parade #31 ]
872 Monroe Blvd • South Haven
Lakefront living is not often luxurious and conscious of size.  The Emmett design achieves both of these goals in style.  Despite being ideal for a narrow waterfront lot, this home leaves nothing wanting, offering homeowners three full floors of modern living.  Dining, kitchen, and living areas flank the outdoor patio space, while three bedrooms plus a master suite are located on the upper level.  The lower level provides additional gathering space and a bunk room, as well as a "beach bath" with walkout access to the lake. Built by Mike Schaap Builders, Interiors by Benchmark Wood Studio

Sheridan  [ Parade #32 ]
876 Monroe Blvd • South Haven
This beautiful shaker home would sit comfortably on many sites, particularly those with a view.  The main floor offers a wide variety of inviting areas to gather, including a large combined kitchen, dining, and living area, a cozy hearth room, and an expansive deck off the back of the house. Two separate upper levels provide space for sleeping, the quarters above the garage acting as a guest apartment.  Extra bunk beds, billiards, seating areas and access to more outdoor living can be found on the lower level, making entertaining easy.  Built by Mike Schaap Builders, Interiors by Benchmark Wood Studio

Harvey  [ Parade #2 ]
5896 Whitworth Ct • Grand Rapids
This quintessential family home offers owners comfort, functionality, and a beautiful space to gather.  This home encompasses all of these qualities and throws in luxury and style, too.  Exterior details reflect the American Craftsman and Shingle styles of the late 19th century.  On the main level, the formal dining room flows into the living area and kitchen, offering more than enough space and seating for large groups of friends and family to congregate.  The well-appointed master suite is also located on the main floor.  Climb the turreted stairs to the upper level and you will find two bedroom suites, a guest room, laundry facilities, and a home office.  The lower level provides a guest suite, and a comfortable family and hearth area, as well as a refreshment bar and an additional office.  Built by Falcon Custom Homes, Interiors by Gallery Interiors

The parade begins tomorrow, October 4 and goes through Saturday, October 19 with hours as follows:
Wednesdays, Fridays & Saturdays:  1:00pm - 8:00pm

We hope to see you there!

Kalamazoo Spring Parade of Homes: Highfield

The big kahuna, the top dog, the big cheese.  It's done.  It's ready.  It's fantastic.

Open for touring during the Kalamazoo Spring Parade of Homes, the Highfield is a luxurious waterfront design, with all the quaintness of a gabled, shingle-style home.  The exterior combines shakes and stone, resulting in a warm, authentic aesthetic.  The home is positioned around three wings, each ending in a set of balconies, which take full advantage of lake views.

The main floor features an expansive master bedroom with a private deck, dual walk-in closets, and full bath.  The wide-open living, kitchen, and dining spaces make the home ideal for entertaining, especially in conjunction with the lower level's billiards, bar, family, and guest rooms.  A two-bedroom guest apartment over the garage completes this year-round vacation residence.

With just one of the many show-stopping features being the custom designed and crafted lower level bar taking the form of the back of a wooden boat (fit with dual exhaust pipes hooked up to a fog machine), this cottage is a must see!  The parade in Kalamazoo starts tomorrow, June 8 and runs through June 16 with the following hours:

Mon - Thur........6pm - 9pm
Fridays...............4pm - 9pm
Saturdays...........1pm - 9pm
Sundays.............1pm - 5pm

The buzz about this home has already started - check out this article in the Kalamazoo Gazette: http://www.mlive.com/business/west-michigan/index.ssf/2012/06/what_does_a_1_million_lake_hou.html

The Cottage & Lakefront Living Show

The Grand Rapids Cottage & Lakefront Living Show is this weekend at DeVos Place. It's going to be great! Visbeen Associates, Falcon Custom Homes and Gallery Interiors have teamed up to present you The Birch. Here are some "under construction" photos & a short video clip as it's being built this week (over only four days!) in the convention center.

Grand Rapids Design Home 2010

Take a look at the proposed design for the 2010 Grand Rapids Design Home! We're honored to have been chosen to team up with Grand Rapids Magazine, Falcon Custom Homes and Gallery Interiors to bring you this design in Manchester Hills.

In April, 2006 Wayne Visbeen participated in the Traditional Building Design Challenge. Architects from all over the country were given the same parameters and, in a live design format, hand-drew unique home designs. Wayne's design won third place! For three years we've wanted to see this project to completion and we are hoping that now is the time.

What are we missing? You, perhaps! We're still looking to bring a homeowner in on this project. If you're interested, email me at angela@visbeen.biz. We need you to make this project happen!

Parade of Homes

The Parade of Homes is in full swing in Grand Rapids & we have a beautiful home to show. Exceptionally built by Falcon Custom Homes, this Manchester Hills home is a must-see.

Traditional Tudor touches and striking stone details elevate this estate above the ordinary. A convenient L-shaped floor plan starts with the four-car garage and leads into the home’s public areas, including a charming kitchen with a built-in booth, a four-season porch and a large living area with built-ins. The right side of the house contains the spacious master suite. Upstairs are three additional bedrooms and a loft, while the downstairs is home to a family room, bar, guest bedroom and sport court/exercise area.
